Interview: Loren Ridinger shares her thoughts on Success, Charities and Miami!

Success can be achieved through hard work and dedication. That is exactly what I learned after hearing Loren Ridinger speak at an event hosted by the University of Miami's Launch Pad on Tuesday, April 4th. After speaking to an auditorium full of future entrepreneurs, Loren's message was loud and clear: "believe in your dreams." Loren Ridinger is the Senior Vice President of the internet giants MarketAmerica.com and SHOP.com. Loren is also the Creator of the award winning cosmetic line Motives® by Loren Ridinger, the luxurious skincare line Cellular Laboratories™, the solution-oriented product line Fixx, and Founder of the exquisite jewelry collection, Loren Jewels®. Talk about a business mogul! During her speech at UM, Loren spoke about the struggles and the successes she has encountered over the years. Although Loren is definitely a strong woman, she did create her success alongside her business partner and husband, JR Ridinger (pictured on the right), President of MarketAmerica.com. If you haven't had the opportunity to meet Loren, then read my interview with the internet icon who has been named one of Vogue’s Top 100 most influential women. Loren is an innovator, a philanthropist and a trendsetter. At the end of the day, Loren's passion is to give back to others. Therefore, Loren is involved with many charitable causes including Rally for Kids with Cancer, which she co-Chairs with Eva Longoria, American Heart Association, from whom she received the 2010 Big Heart Humanitarian award, the Make-a-Wish Foundation, the Jennifer Lopez Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and many others.MBS: Can you share your favorite beauty secret with my readers?
LOREN: I think it’s more of a daily regimen than a beauty secret. I use Matraskin, a liquid serum collagen that has changed my skin completely. Never go to sleep with make-up on and make sure you get an early start on your skin care regimen. Most people start to take care of their skin when they're in their 30’s. It is important for women to begin this regimen early in life [even in your teens].

MBS: How can consumers learn about your various personal brands?
LOREN: Consumer can access my brands through MarketAmerica.com and indiv
idual websites like MotivesCosmetics.com & LorenJewels.com. I’m a social media addict so I’m constantly promoting my products through the social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and my own personal blogs like MyFashionCents.com and LorensWorld.com. But, most important than all mentioned is through people power, Market America has 180,000 distributors that are knowledgeable of the product and are constantly promoting and educating others on my brands and with this you can’t compete in the stores.
MBS: What is the best advice you constantly give your celebrity friends? (Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez, Eva Longoria, etc.)
LOREN: It’s not so much about the advice for us. Instead, it’s about reminding each to take time for ourselves. We all have similar personalities and we are workaholics so it’s important to communicate with one another and be supportive.

MBS: What is the most recent product you have launched?
LOREN: Fixx solution oriented products, they are products that actually “fix” stuff. We have Fixx Argan Oil Shampoo which contains Moroccan argan oil [one of the rarest and most sought-after ingredients in the personal care industry]. Fixx Thick Hair Shampoo & Conditioner with stinging nettle extract that cleans and stimulates the scalp hair to make it look thicker and fuller. Fixx Lash Extend which provides you with thicker, longer looking lashes and brows in just two weeks.

MBS: Why did you become involved with the American Heart Association and why is it an important cause?
LOREN: Because my mother passed away at the young age of 42 so I feel it's important for everyone to know how heart disease can change your life. It's important for women to identify the risk associated and it’s proven that women are more at risk with heart failure than men.

MBS:
Since this year's
Rally for Kids event is quickly approaching (April 29 & 30), is there anything in particular that you're looking forward to?
LOREN: Yes! There is nothing more rewarding than putting a smile on a kids face. This charity is fun, and fulfilling and you get to have a great time. I can’t wait to watch my husband JR and Eva win lol… This charity is all about competing, having fun all while benefiting the children.
MBS: After living in Miami, what are your top 5 hot spots?
LOREN: Casa Tua we get to eat and dance at the same place with amazing food and an amazing host like Mickey; The Forge it’s a Miami institution and Shareef Malnik is the ultimate host and friend; W Hotel because I think it’s so beautiful with a chic and hot bar; Soho House without a question is the place to be seen but not everyone can get in; Sugarcane in the Design District is great for a casual dinner; and Mandarin Oriental for its spa.

I hope my interview has inspired you to dream BIG like Loren! Make sure to follow Loren Ridinger on Twitter and check out the video from her presentation at the University of Miami.

Miami Magazine hosts an event at Elie Tahari Bal Harbour to benefit Rally for Kids with Cancer

I love to support events that benefit great causes. On Wednesday, March 2nd, I attended a special shopping event at the Elie Tahari Boutique inside the Bal Harbour Shops hosted by Miami Magazine [pictured above: Sara Droz, Anne Owen (Miami Magazine's Publisher), and Jennifer Sybers]. During the evening, guests enjoyed cocktails courtesy of Grey Goose Vodka, hors d'oeuvres and 20% off the new Elie Tahari spring collection. A portion of the evening's sales went towards Rally for Kids with Cancer, a foundation that aims to help young children fight their battle with cancer. Since their annual celebrity event is right around the corner (April 29 & 30, 2011), check out their website to learn about the Cancer Scavenger Cup where celebrities and donors drive around Miami and participate in a variety of scavenger games to spread awareness for the organization's mission. This year's honorary chair is Eva Longoria so scroll down to see a video of Longoria as she speaks about the importance of Rally for Kids. Become a driver, a sponsor or donate to your favorite celebrity to help raise much needed funds for children's cancer research, treatment and care.

Rally for Kids: Eva Longoria Parker returns as Honorary Chair for the 2010 Scavenger Cup

Eva Longoria Parker was in Miami today, September 12th, to formally announce that she will be returning for her second year as Rally's Honorary Chair. JR and Loren Ridinger, President/ CEO and Senior Vice President of Market America, will be joining Eva Longoria as Co-chairs for this annual event. The Rally for Kids with Cancer Scavenger Cup takes place November 12th and 13th, 2010 in Miami. Participants must each raise a minimum of $25,000 to enter their personal car and earn the chance to draft a Celebrity Navigator such as Eva Longoria Parker. The more funds you raise, the better draft position you earn during the Celebrity Navigator selection process. The event's goal is to raise much needed funds for children's cancer research, treatment and care. As Eva Longoria Parker stated, "Every child should have the chance to live a life free from pain and suffering, and enjoy a full and happy life." Eva's passion for kids with cancer was truly inspirational!

Fashion's Night Out...Miami Style!

What a night in Miami! There was no better way to celebrate Fashion's Night Out (FNO) than shopping around the luxurious Bal Harbour Shops. VOGUE Magazine, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, NYC & Company and the City of New York created this global event to help spread awareness for different charity organizations while also supporting the fashion industry. Miami did not disappoint sazoneros! I ran into my favorite Shoenista and star of VH1's Basketball Wives, Evelyn Lozada, who hosted an event at the Trina Turk store (pictured above wearing a stunning Trina Turk cocktail dress). Miami socialites Dana Shear and Vivianne Kurzweil also hosted the event along with lifestyle editor Jacquelynn Powers. Guests enjoyed cupcakes and champagne while perusing the store for the latest fall trends. Throughout Bal Harbour, customers purchased the official FNO shirts to help support the NYC AIDS Fund.

The FNO event at Trina Turk Bal Harbour was amazing!

Film Director, Screenwriter and Producer Cess Silvera along with CEO of Elite Home and Lifestyle Management, Amaris Jones and Evelyn Lozada (star of VH1's Basketball Wives). The season premiere of Basketball Wives will air on VH1 in December so tune-in to watch!

Jennifer Kopitke, Trina Turk's Store Manager, struck a pose for MBS with Samantha Chiz and Sandy Medino during the FNO event.

My next stop: The Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis hosted a fabulous game of Bocce Ball in the middle of the Bal Harbour Shops! The Buoniconti Fund serves as the national fundraising arm of The Miami Project and aims to reach high levels of spinal cord injury awareness within local communities. Last night's event kicked off the 25th Anniversary of the Great Sports Legends Dinner, which takes place on Monday, September 27th, at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. For more information, visit their website!

From left to right- Dick Anderson (1972 player of the undefeated Miami Dolphins team), Lesley Visser (First and Only Woman Enshrined into Pro Football Hall of Fame), Nat Moore, Stephanie Sayfie Aagaard and Morten Aagaard.
My final stop for the night was at Chloé Bal Harbour. The store presented a fun in-store event hosted by Latina actress, host and producer of Telemundo’s Al Rojo Vivo Maŕia Celeste Arrarás (pictured on the left). Maŕia was joined by actress and model Paola Turbay and Miami philanthropist and socialite Kelly Gold. Guests sipped on champagne by Louis Roederer and hors d’oeuvres while checking out Chloé’s Autumn/ Winter 2010 ready-to-wear collection. A portion of the evening’s proceeds benefited Rally for Kids, a non-profit organization providing critical funds for care, treatment and research for children suffering from cancer. Eva Longoria Parker has joined the fight! Visit their website to learn how to get involved in your own way.

Finally, Telemundo’s Al Rojo Vivo Maŕia Celeste Arrarás strikes a pose with yours truly! I'm a big fan of Maŕia Celeste and she was so kind and sweet during the event. Hope you enjoyed my recap and feel free to leave your comments below. Cheers to a wonderful night of fashion! xoxo
